Sumitomo Type 62 is a Japanese tracked armored fighting vehicle developed and produced by the Sumitomo Heavy Industries. It was initially introduced in 1962 and is still in service with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. The Type 62 was designed to provide light reconnaissance, communication, and transportation capabilities to the military. It has a crew of three and can carry up to five passengers. The vehicle is powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine, capable of delivering a maximum speed of 70 km/h. It has a unique suspension system that allows for exceptional mobility and maneuverability on difficult terrain. The Type 62 is armed with a 7.62mm machine gun and a 12.7mm anti-aircraft gun for self-defense.
